Start of Term Arrangements

I hope you have all had a great summer and the boys are looking forward to starting / getting back to Shiplake!

You have all been emailed an outline of the start of term arrangements by Sue Bond and I hope this is clear and you all know when your son is expected in (Year7 begin on Tuesday and Year 8 begin on Wednesday). The following information should give you all the details you and your sons need:

• Year 7: Arrive on Tuesday 7th September at 08:00

Year 7 will have an assembly at 8.20 and then meet their year 13 mentors. The rest of the day will be taken up with tutor periods, a tour of the school, ICT induction and a swim and capsize test! Year 7 pupils should be collected at 16:30.

• Year 8 & 7: Arrive on Wednesday 8th September at 08:00

Year 8 will have tutor periods at 8:20 and lessons for Year 7 & 8 begin at 8:50. The Music and Art programme will run in the afternoon, dinner will be at 17.30 and, as with every Wednesday, pick up for all is at 18:00.

A normal academic peogramme then continues for the rest of the week.

• On Thursday the boys will have Football as their Major games session. They must bring their Shiplake sports kit, boots and shinpads. On Friday (and Tuesdays) rugby will be the major games session and they must bring boots and a mouthguard (compulsory for all).
• The English department has asked for all the boys to bring a magazine (which they usually read) into school.
